First Aid

The club are looking for volunteers to attend a rugby first aid course at Fareham Heathens Rugby Club on sat 17th Sept (9 -4 ish). Each age group should supply someone to be trained each year and it’s an ideal job for a lovely parent who is fairly regularly there on Sunday mornings.

There are lots of spaces available if we get more than one volunteer and it's free.
Any replies for a U9’s volunteer to me please and I can get you further details ...you know it makes sense (especially now they’re tackling!)
Thanks
Sue Walker

Sophie Hutchings is running a "boot exchange" this year. So if you have any old ones to donate or are looking for a particular size for your child please contact her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or find her at the U7's pitch at Governors Green.

It has been suggested that a 50p donation to the club would be appropriate when either swapping or receiving boots.

Thanks for those who watched the 2nds at Burnaby on Saturday. It was an amazing day for all those who played on the NO1 pitch and the lads very much appreciated the support.

Please can I ask you now to support the 1st team whenever you can. Children are more than welcome and if you want your child to be a mascot just e-mail or ring me.

You may be watching your child take the pitch in a few years so get used to watching fantastic Rugby and get shouting for our boys.

Fixture list is on the web site but next home match 30th October against Eastleigh.

RFU Law Changes for 2010-11

The two big changes are:

  1. Longer CTPE (pause to engage delay) as seen in recent Tri-Nations
  2. Tackler release - "clear air", even if the 'tackler' is on his feet and the ball carrying tackled player has gone to ground, the tackler must release tackled player and ball to allow the tackled player to place, pass etc. This one will get many coaches, players and spectators going.

A FULL meeting of Portsmouth City Council will vote whether buy an historic city common.

Portsmouth City Council is set to decide next Tuesday if they want to purchase Governors Green, in Old Portsmouth, from the Crown Estate.

Previously used by the Ministry of Defence, the site was recently placed on the open market, with the condition that it remains protected open space and cannot be built on.

On Tuesday the council will consider whether to lease the land to Portsmouth Grammar School.

But it will also allow current users, such as Mayville High School and United Services Sports Club, to continue activities on it.

The green was also recently featured on Channel 4's Time Team!
